Idlewild Bridgetown’s intensive, residential coaching/mentoring experience is facilitated by James Miller- executive coach with 27 years professional coaching experience as well as 14 years experience as an executive leader.

When might you benefit from the coaching & mentoring residential intensive?

·         When you need time and space to think without distraction.

·         Working through a particularly challenging issue or set of circumstances (opportunities or threats)

·         Working on strictly confidential matters with external support in absolute confidence

·         Setting a course for the business prior to engaging the rest of the business

·         Reviewing the performance of the business over the past year, quarter etc.

·         Areas of specialty experience are strategy, culture, leadership, teamwork.

Using a coaching approach, James will facilitate your thinking to work on what matters to you. James can and will also draw on executive operational and leadership experience as required to partner on solution development if required as well as provide helpful process to address any of the specialty areas above (Mentoring)

Assuming you work Monday to Friday, it is highly recommended that you arrive On a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

This package includes pre residential support, on site residential sessions and 2 post residential sessions.

How it Works

Pre-residential

·         Preparation session - Coach and Coachee have a Teams/Zoom/Webex meeting to help continue the connection and explore the territory of the coach/mentoring arrangement.

·         Coach and Coachee agree mutual prep work to complete ready for when they arrive for the residential coaching.

·         Prep work may also include a Print, MBTI, DiSC or LSI to be completed as part of service if required prior to the residential.

Day 1 

·         3pm Coachee arrival and welcome to Idlewild Bridgetown and settles in.

·         Coachee private time for reflection & time to free the thinking ready for coaching work.

·         4:30 to 6pm Work session - framing the work and outcomes over drinks & nibbles.

·         Evening - Dinner coachee only and continued private time.

Day 2

·         7am to 7:45 - coach and coachee go for a walk & talk session – check in on the agenda for today and what outcomes are sought and what the time requirements are for the support from today.

o    Work session Option 1 to work all day together for 7 hours with Day 3 simply a walk and talk and pack up and leave.

o    Work session Option 2 to work together for 6 hours with Day 3 having a final 1 hour work session before pack up and leave.

·         Lunch (either provided or coachee can source/go out for.) and continued private time.

·         5pm drinks on the veranda and look back over the day.

·         Evening - Dinner coachee only and continued private time.

Day 3

·         7 to 7:45am - coach and coachee go for a walk & talk session – check in and insights from Day 2.

·         8:30am coffee and final work session (Option 2 above) OR Option 1 coachee free time and then…

·         10am coachee check out a departs.

Post residential follow up

·         Implementation session on Teams/Zoom/Webex booked in on the Friday in the week after the residential.

·         Implementation session on Teams/Zoom/Webex booked in on the Friday 3 weeks after the residential.

Investment

Coaching investment is $5,400 which includes

·         all prep work prior to, during and after each of the 6 sessions.

·         Whiteboards, flip charts, pens Wi-Fi and is provided as part of your package.

·         Any diagnostic instruments (e.g. Print, MBTI, DiSC or LSI) selected for use are additional and charged at cost plus a small admin fee.

Accommodation Investment

·         Work is carried out on site at either the cottage or the barn which ever you choose to book.

·         The Barn is the larger space and is $600 for the 2-night stay mid week assuming you use just 1 room and ensuite. If you bring a business or other partner is is $730 for the same stay.

·         Willow Cottage is the smaller space and is $600 for the 2-night stay mid week.

Catering

·         Breakfast supplies are provided as part of your accommodation booking.

·         There is 1 lunch and 2 dinners during the residential. We can provide these at a cost of $100. The accommodation does have a full kitchen and BBQ if you choose to do your own thing, and there are also great local cafes, pubs and restaurants in case you would like to eat out.

·         BYO beverages, and we provide nibbles when working with the coach.

James Miller is an Executive Leader whose 37 year post graduate career includes a variety of leadership, advisory, and facilitation, coach and mentor roles within organisational settings. His background originated in Organisational Development / Human Resource Management.

James’ understanding of the links between business strategy and organisational culture informs his ability to understand the business context, and design and implement strategy and change to help organisations to be efficient and perform.

A strong supporter of self-responsibility, James encourages leadership at all levels of an organisation and dialogue between people that creates possibility for building effective workplace relationships and addressing the key issues at work.

James is a Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute. James is also a past assessor for the Australian Human Resources Institute's Annual National Awards for Leadership and Management - assessing and recommending best practice leadership and development practices in organisations. For 3 years he was AHRI WA’s Learning and Development Special Interest Group convener for Western Australia and been a mentor in the mentoring program since 2005. He has presented at AHRI annual conferences and has an interest in connecting people and developing long term business relationships.

Commercial capabilities are less commonly found in HR professionals. James’ experience in owning and managing an employee development consulting firm, his role as one of the hospital Executives at one of Perth’s largest hospitals and his most recent role for 8 years as General Manager Corporate and Commercial Services has honed his commercial, marketing, product and financial management capabilities.

James and his wife run an exclusive accommodation business called Idlewild Bridgetown featuring a fully restored and renovated old barn and a stunning secluded country cottage. James continued to provide consulting services to Perth based businesses.

In running Idlewild Bridgetown, it seemed like a natural thing to do to combine offering his career expertise in the unique accommodation settings that Idlewild Bridgetown has to offer. 

James likes old houses, old VWs, landscape gardening, blues, soul, and country music, music festivals, hiking, camping and the great conversations that go with all of these. James is married with 3 sons and lives on site at Idlewild Bridgetown in the Bridgetown Western Australia.
